Using a Chain on Moroccan Lanterns

Have you ever noticed that chain that comes on the top of a lantern? That chain is used primarily to help you hang the lantern onto a support system. This can include a traditional stand material if desired. The chain will be painted with the same coating that is used on the rest of a lantern. Sometimes it might even be made with the exact same metal as what the lantern already features. Either way, Moroccan lanterns often use these chains just to make them look a little better and to make them more functional at the same time.

A chain should be designed with enough links on it to keep it secure. The openings on each link should be very small and should not easily bend and cause the lantern to fall off. Also, the chain may be designed with a small hook or circle at the very end. This is used to connect the lantern to a support beam. The links are also designed with small pieces so the chain will stay intact. Still, the links can cause the lantern to tilt from one side to the next if too much physical force is used on the chain. Most Moroccan lanterns will use chains that are two to six inches in length but there is always the option to get an extension if you’d prefer. Any chain you use on your lantern will truly give you a beautiful look on any kind of lantern you might have to use.
