Antiqued Glass on Moroccan Lanterns

Some of the most popular glass surfaces to use in Moroccan lanterns are antique glass surfaces. These surfaces are traditionally used as opaque materials that use a thick cover with a slight silver tone to it. You will still have some light coming through one of these lanterns but it will not be too intense. In fact, the light will accentuate the silver appearance of your antiqued glass. It should add to the quality of the appearance on your lantern and can be added to your lantern no matter how thick or big it might be.

Antiqued glass is traditionally made for Moroccan lanterns with a simple process. What happens here is that a mixture of water and white vinegar will be sprayed onto the surface of the glass. A metallic spray is then added to the surface of the lantern almost immediately after adding the vinegar and water. The metallic spray has to be added quickly so it will be more likely to stick onto the body of the lantern. This can be repeated as many times as needed to create a thick surface over the body of your lantern. It can be as light or dark as you desire. In some cases the coverage will have already been created by a Moroccan artisan but you might have the option to create your own antiqued glass application over the lantern if you wish to go that route. This should create a solid silver appearance that makes a lantern all the more exotic and beautiful.
